Angefangen hat alles mit einer Autofahrt als K.C. 15 Jahre alt war: "Ich saß neben meiner Schwester und im Radio lief "The Weight" von The Band. Ich wußte einfach, daß ich von nun an diesen Song, diesen Sound, dieses Zusammenspiel meinen würde, wenn ich von Musik spräche. Ich habe mir die Band und das Album aufgeschrieben – den Zettel habe ich noch, das Album aber nie gekauft!"

Mit 17 trifft sie Budi: "Ich besaß damals 5 Schallplatten und eine bunt angemalte Gitarre. Ich hörte "Captain Beefheart" und "Tori Amos" und glaubte, mehr bräuchte ich über Musik nicht zu lernen. Dann hörte ich meine erste Bluegrass Platte aus Budis Plattensammlung: "Don Reno & Red Smiley" und mein Herz zersprang in tausend Stücke! Nachdem ich diesen Sound, diese Songs gefunden hatte wußte ich, wohin ich gehöre."

Bald darauf schrieb sie ihre ersten Songs und nahm 2004 ihr erstes Album "Weird tunes from a wild mind" (Eigenverlag) auf, welches bereits als vielversprechend gelobt wurde. Ein Song erschien auch auf dem Sampler "Sirens of Berlin".

2006 kam dann "The widow tries to hide" (BCB Records). Auf dieser Platte schaffte K.C. eine ganz eigene Verbindung von Folk und Country.

Auf ihrem neuen Album "Hammer & Nails" (t3records) gibt sich K.C. stilistisch nach allen Seiten offen und bringt 13 starke Eigenkompositionen von einer Klarheit, Tiefe und Schönheit, mit kräftigen und zeitlosen Melodien, daß sie den Zuhörer fesseln und schlichtweg verzaubern.

It all started driving in a car when K.C. McKanzie was 15, "I sat next to my sister and the radio played the song "The Weight" from "The Band". I knew from now on that this is the sound. I wrote down the name of the Band on a napkin– still got the napkin but never bought the record!"

At 17 K.C. McKanzie owned a brightly coloured guitar and only 5 records. "I listened to Captain Beefheart and Tori Amos and believed that there's nothing else to know about music." And then K.C. met Budi: "I discovered my first Bluegrass-record at Budi's record collection:"Don Reno & Red Smiley" and my heart was bursting into a thousand pieces! After I heard this sound, these songs I knew where I belonged."

Shortly afterwards K.C. McKanzie wrote her first songs and recorded her first album "Weird Tunes From A Wild Mind" in 2004. The album was considered "promising" by the Press. The Song "Son of the Devil" was also released on the Sampler "Sirens of Berlin" (featuring 17 female songwriters).

In 2006 K.C. McKanzie released "The Widow Tries To Hide" (BCB Records).

K.C. created a very own combination of Country and Folk.

On her new CD "Hammer & Nails" (t3records) K.C. McKanzie pushed her musical boundaries a bit. She wrote 13 compositions of a brightness, depth and beauty, with strong and timeless melodies. The listener is just captured and simply enchanted.
