K.C. McKanzie hat einen Sinn für das Makabre, das Anstößige und Außergewöhnliche. Kein Held ihrer Songs kommt ohne dunkle Geheimnisse aus, kein Akkord, der sich nicht in leichte Dissonanzen ziehen ließe. Es geht hart aber ehrlich zu in K.C.s Kompositionen.

Sehnsüchtig-folkig schwebt ihre klare, sanfte Stimme über der Musik, zeigt den Weg durch die musikalischen Landschaften, die K.C. (Gitarre, Gesang) mit ihrem Partner Joe "Budi" Budinsky (Kontrabass, Banjo) kreiert. Dabei verzichten die beiden auf Schönmalerei, reduzieren die Songs auf das Wesentliche: Rhythmus, Melodie, Story.

Die Presse ordnet K.C. unter "Neo-Traditional", tief verwurzelt in Folk, "Roots-Music" ein, betont zugleich, daß es Musik ist, die sich von der Masse abhebt.

None of the heroes of her songs is without a secret; not a single chord that couldn't be bent into soft dissonances. It's a hard but honest tone in K.C. McKanzie's compositions.
